Reason for Existence ("Purpose")

Stand side by side with our customers and society, foster trust, and use our financial expertise to pave the way for a more prosperous future.

Since our founding, we have worked diligently with our customers and society and ventured to provide solutions to their issues.
The term "trust" used in the name of one of our parent companies, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, contains the ideas of "entrusting to trustworthy persons" and "entrusting with confidence." We also value this spirit, and endeavor to build mutual trust with our customers over time by pursuing true customer satisfaction. Following Panasonic Group's fundamental business philosophy of "achieving co-existence and mutual prosperity," our history is one of cherishing the development of a network of mutually beneficial relationships with our various stakeholders, including customers and business partners, and working to help them prosper. This Purpose embodies our desire to continue being an irreplaceable partner for our customers and society by passing on this history to the next generation.
We will leverage our strengths across a broad range of financial products and services, diverse business lines, and the customer base of our two parent companies, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank and Panasonic Corporation, and encourage each and every one of our employees to contemplate what he or she must do to realize a more prosperous future. By continuing to take on challenges on a company-wide basis, we will further increase our value to society and contribute to its advancement.

  2. As a member of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group, we will adhere to the principles of sound management based on a high degree of self-discipline with the background of "Fiduciary Spirit" and establish strong credibility from society.

  3. We will strive to fulfill all shareholder expectations by creating distinct values through new business models fusing the various functions featuring the trust bank group.
